Universal Works is pleased to announce a collaboration with one of the world’s most well respected denim retailers. Tenue de Nîmes has been a mecca for denim lovers since it was first launched by  founder Menno van Meurs in 2008, based on Elandsgracht in the Jordaan district of Amsterdam.

As serious fans of Tenue de Nîmes for many seasons, it made sense to work together on an exciting new project,  which has resulted in the creation of a capsule collection of products. Working closely with the General Store  Manager Rudy Ross, Universal Works have design a specific group of garments that would work to compliment the  denim elements of a daily wardrobe. 6 items will be available to buy, which have been engineered using recycled  tweeds and a 400gm woven twill with a super-soft handle.

Generating styles that enhance denim was a harmonious decision for both brands. Speaking about the inspiration  behind the collaboration, UW founder David Keyte, explained,

“Tenue de Nîmes is a store I’ve admired for years, so I  wanted to make something really special – just for them. Rudy and I had conversations about our tastes in music  and our favourite movies and it was from here that we came up with the idea of a mini collection based on the  fusion of British and Dutch fashion. I wanted to achieve something that fitted well with their well-known love and  expertise in denim - but wasn’t actually denim. By choosing to use British fabrics like tweeds and heavy Lancashire  cotton twill instead, we were able to weave in the essence of real honest working clothes (like denim) but make it  feel a bit more UW.”

The Tenue De Nimes x Universal Works collaboration pieces will drop online at universalworks.co.uk and  tenuedenimes.com on Friday 1st October at 7pm.

Universal Works fans will be familiar with the bestselling pieces, which have been tweaked to cater for the (slightly  taller) Dutch customer. The Warmus and Kyoto Jackets have been reimagined in Recycled Olive Tweed. The CW  Parka comes in a rich Aero Waxed Cotton from Scotland and links brilliantly with the Warmus Jacket, Fatigue Pants  and Pleated Track Pants, which have been produced in super comfortable, but durable Heavy Cotton Twill.

The collaboration is part of the Future Friendship Project initiative, which sees Universal Works connecting with,  and working alongside brands and companies that share their authentic vision of Peace, Love and Soul. Choosing to combine forces with other like minded brands creates real future friendships that exist across countries without  borders.

It’s a sentiment echoed by Tenue de Nîmes General Store Manager, Rudy Ross, who concluded,

“With this collaborative capsule collection, we, Tenue de Nîmes and Universal Works, further strengthen our partnership and set in stone the beliefs we have in making quality garments.”
