Breaking Bread. Catching up with David Wright.

Breaking Bread. Catching up with David Wright.

David Wright is a third-generation baker, workshop coordinator at Pump Street Bakery, and author of books about baking. So it really is no surprise that he owns one of our Bakers Jackets.

Hearing about David from a family friend of our Co-Founders, word got out that he would be wearing his trusty Bakers Jacket on his current book tour, promoting his latest title Breaking Bread. We find David at Tough Mary’s Bakehouse in Nottingham, which also happens to be where Team UW get their post-lunch pastry supply.

Over coffees and Copenhagen buns, we learnt that since receiving it as a gift from a friend in 2022, the jacket has been his go-to. He always throws it on to teach his workshops, and loves how it feels more like his own as the years go by. We heard about his time as a baker, comparing stories with our Co-Founder David, whose dad was the baker who inspired our jacket’s look and name.

We always want to hear the stories anyone tells us about their lives in our clothes, but this felt like a lovely full-circle moment. We hope there are many more bakers out there donning the Bakers Jacket to make delicious things. We are so proud to have contributed to so many croissants.
