Introducing Universal Works Workshop Denim

Introducing Universal Works Workshop Denim

We’ve been busy at UWHQ, working hard to bring you our made in England denim range, Workshop Denim.

We love to get passionate about creating great garments and love it when others do too. In the denim world, it is normally either about American or Japanese; about looking for a specific union special machine to recreate a superior vintage look, or about capturing an authentic feel. We’re not saying there is anything wrong with this, but we wanted to go about things a little differently.

We have decided to keep things simple; making a European jean, from vintage narrow-loomed denim, in two great fits that still take into account the needs of contemporary man, keeping them unwashed so you can make them your own, and selling them at the best possible price.

This is the point where we could bore you with the tech terminology that seems to be ubiquitous in selvedge denim world, so instead we thought we would give you a few reasons why we love the jeans and hopefully why you will too.

The denim is woven in a great mill in Portugal and then the jeans are made right here in the centre of England.

We have deliberately not branded this jean on any place, but the inside. From the unstamped rivets to the ghost patch, to an unassuming pocket shape, we have kept our jeans humble, modest and honest. Kind of like us.

The jeans come in two great fits: a relaxed, work wear inspired regular fit and a straighter-legged slim fit.

Oh and we've made a couple of amazing jackets too!

The Jeans will be available exclusively from Oi Polloi and Peggs & Son from Friday 4th April.

To celebrate the Launch of Workshop Denim we have created a couple short films in collaboration with the talented Allan Buxton.
