Working With | Mono Cut
One of our favourite parts of being at Universal Works is that we get to work with and learn from experts in a whole variety of disciplines.
You may have seen that a couple of months ago that Liquor Store, opened up a new shop with a dedicated Universal Works space. For the space, the guys at LS wanted input from us to really put a Universal Works stamp on it and we knew just the company for the job, Mono Cut.
Mono Cut is run by Simon, a top bloke who designs and builds bespoke furniture and has an unhealthy obsession with hand tools. His workshop is idiosyncratically and foolishly (his words) situated on the third floor of an old mill building in central Nottingham, its handy for the shops but getting the timber up the stairs for the project was a nightmare.
David K got in contact with Simon and gave him the brief that we needed a shop space that looks and feels like our other Universal Works stores but was also unique to Liquor Store.
Simon used electricity pylons as inspiration for the shelving units to go into the store and constructed them from solid oak wood.
We love how the project turned out and we’ll be working with Simon again in the future.
