Universal Works. X Wellgosh

Universal Works. X Wellgosh

To celebrate Wellgosh's 30th (30 years!) Anniversary we teamed up with the Leicester lads for this one off collaborate capsule collection which nods to their past.

We knew we wanted to do something special together to mark the amazing achievement of 30 years in business. Over a cuppa and bickie, we sat down to form a plan. Whilst looking back at Wellgosh's history we came across some character illustrations they used back in 2001 to adorn their shop front and packaging by artist Kid Acne. We knew at that point that it only seemed fitting to incorporate these somehow.

With a plan in hand, factories were visited and samples were made. A trip later to the Wellgosh store to visit Dan, Pete and Chris and we had our capsule collection.

Kid Acne is a UK-based illustrator, printmaker and MC who spent his formative years writing graffiti, making music and creating cult-followed fanzines; during this time he became a good friend of Wellgosh through shared common interests and subcultures. Since then he’s worked with the likes of Levi’s, Kenzo, Montana Colors, WARP, XL Recordings, Kid Robot, IKEA & Mercedes Benz (to name a few). He’s held numerous solo exhibitions around the world and is now revered as a stalwart of the international street-art movement.

For this collection, our cotton-twill felt like the right choice for the woven jacket and short, taking Kid Acne's characters we added a hand-embroidered element to the pieces. A new all over motif Coach Jacket, Oversized Short, 6-panel cap combo and tee's showcasing the original linked up artwork.
