If you have been in our stores you will have seen our collection of framed images up on the walls with all sorts of photographs, postcards and other bits and bobs in them, these are our Photo Walls.
When we were designing our first store at Lambs Conduit Street we were asked to produce an image to be put up that would reflect Universal Works. The problem was that trying to sum up one certain look or style for an image that defines us completely was a big ask. Universal Works isn’t as straight forward as that, influences across all culture, design, fashion, art, film, music, architecture and the rest all feed into what makes us who we are.
The walls at the UWHQ office are covered in various images that have been collected over the years such as publications from fashion shows and design inspiration, postcards from our travels and scenes from our favourite movies to name but a few. Since these had been influencing us for years, we thought they represented UW quite well.
We got them framed up and arranged them on the wall in a way that worked and looked good. What you see today is quite true to how it started with only a few changes here and there as naturally we’ve changed a bit over time too.
We opened our Berwick Street and Nottingham Store and did the same, and even more recently in our dedicated space at Liquor Store in Birmingham. So next time you pop into store, make sure to take a look.
