Bakers Jacket Project. Exhibition Party.
We will always jump at the chance to celebrate our community, and our Bakers Jacket Project collaboration with artist (and our very good friend) Kojo Marfo was the perfect excuse to throw a party. UW friends and family gathered on Thursday 5th December at our Coal Drops Yard store, for a closer look at the custom piece Kojo created for us.
Our guests had the chance to see Kojo’s one-of-a-kind Bakers Jacket, alongside his poem, “The Rising Sun”, echoing the artwork’s theme of hope and resilience, which you can read more about in our Journal here. There were limited-edition signed prints (15 for sale for our 15th anniversary), posters and t-shirts being snapped up, and Kojo came along for an exclusive signing session.
We had beers from Two Tribes, soft drinks from Karma Drinks, and good vibes via playlists from our store team.
All proceeds from the night went to New Horizons Youth Centre, a charity doing vital work to support homeless young people in London—and thanks to The Big Give, our donation will be doubled to help keep their services running this winter.
A huge thank you to everyone who made it happen, with a special shout out to Kojo Marfo and to everyone who came along to celebrate.
If you didn’t get a chance to stop by, there are limited numbers of posters, t-shirts and signed prints available here—and watch this space for the next in our Bakers Jacket Project series.
Thanks again to Karma Drinks and Two Tribes for providing drinks for the evening.
