Best of Nottingham: Goose Fair

Autumn is here and in Nottingham that means the arrival of the Goose Fair. As you may know, our new collection is inspired by memories of growing up visiting the Goose Fair, a 700-year-old tradition. The crazy mix of noise, smells and lights that are heard and seen from miles around. Maybe the best part is the people, a mix of characters living a bohemian life, not without a touch of glamour and yet a tough edge. This feeling and memory of those characters were the inspiration for the AW16 collection. We styled our collection and LCM presentation on it and also held Goose Fair inspired events in our stores, so when it came to town the guys at UWHQ couldn’t wait to head down for their yearly dose of Goose Fair games, rides and hot peas with mint sauce.

Jamie, John, Alex and Robin headed to Europe’s biggest traveling fair to stroll around taking photos, chatting to stall owners and sampling its famous snacks.

The Goose Fair has changed a lot over the years, we especially miss the boxing ring challenge, though there are still some classics like the "cocks on sticks" that's in its 66th year of trade that make the trip worthwhile.
