Lockdown Listening: Nitty Gritty, Sweden.

One thing that unites us all and keeps us inspired and motivated, especially in a time of crisis, is the love for music. We asked a few of our stockists and fellow music lovers to share what tracks are keeping them sane during the lockdown.

Nitty Gritty is a multi brand retailer and online store located in Stockholm, Sweden. It was founded in 1991 as a counter reaction to all the mainline clothing department stores dominating the market in the early 90's.

We really like how they define themselves, as a store that offers “a personal mix of brands that are neither cheap or expensive, Swedish or international, known or unknown” with a concept that has evolved through the years without loosing its core.

We have shared many interesting music conversations over dinner with Erik, who besides being the head buyer for menswear at Nitty Gritty, is also behind Västkransen Records, a vinyl label releasing new house and disco from producers in Stockholm's dance music scene.

Eric recommends an album that helps keep him calm during these challenging times.

Eric on his reccomened playlist:

Instead of making a playlist I would like to recommend another album that keeps me calm and is great to have on in the background while at home. I find it very comforting and a perfect option if you feel like having something on but don’t want to listen to something in particular.

What artist/album are you enjoying listening to lately?

Bufiman - Albumsi. I saw him perform live at a party in Stockholm around new years and his music blew my mind.

What was your favourite artist or club you went to see live in the past?

Me and a bunch of friends throw a small annual open-air party in the outskirts of Stockholm and last August we invited our local hero Kornél Kovacs to play. It was a night I will never forget and thinking about the vibe we created really cheers me up in these challenging times.

What are your go-to garments to wear during lockdown?

Well, Stockholm isn’t under complete lockdown but I have never spent this much time at home, as I am now for sure. I’m not the type of person who put on different clothes at home and I always wear relaxed fitting garments. I have a pair of very wide vintage US utility khaki trousers that I have been in six days a week for the last few months. Those and long sleeve t-shirts are pretty much what I wear for the moment.
