G.R.P. Firenze is a small knitting factory near Florence that was established in 1973 and produces wonderful knitted sweaters.
The traditional Tuscan knitwear company is co-owned by our friends Gianni, Pierluigi and Giacomo proprietor of Universal Works stockist Ultra. Ultra is located in a neighbourhood in Florence called Borgo San Frediano, named by lonely planet one of the coolest neighbourhoods to visit in the world this little treasure is known for various vintage shops, old-fashioned artisan’s studios and traditional trattoria Fiorentina.
Universal Works and G.R.P have joined forces to bring to life a luxury, knitwear version of the traditional "shop coat" that would have been seen to be worn by the shopkeepers throughout this neighbourhood. They call this garment Capo Lavoro, which translates as "workwear garment", suitably in Italian Capolavoro also means a masterpiece.
It only seemed fitting to get photos of our shopkeepers in the garment as seen on Mikee from our Coal Drops Yard store and Connor from the Nottingham store.
