Universal Works X Millican Collaboration
Through a shared passion for the outdoors, honest tradition and modern functionality we've teamed up with Millican to create four new bags.
Jamie the holdall, Jan the daypack, David the tote and Martin the courier, in Millican tradition are all named after friends and colleagues of UW. The first collaboration is limited to 25 Pieces per style which are available only through both Millican and our own online stores. We are very proud of these bags so if you’re in the market for a new one, we honestly believe if you give a Millican bag a try you will not be disappointed.
Millican was created in the summer of 2008 by husband and wife team Jorrit and Nicky and named after the “Professor of Adventure” Millican Dalton. Now in their third year, they continue to make travel and outdoor bags for every occasion, inspired by classic shapes, with modern functionality and sustainable materials wherever possible.
Below are a few words from our main man David Keyte:
“I had heard the story of Millican Dalton some years back, a great British eccentric, an outdoorsman who’s story I admired.
Last year I found there was a book on the guy. I wanted to read the book and found it was only available from a company called “Millican”, could they be connected, of course, they were connected, they were a bag company with a sense of the spirit of the hero Mr Dalton.
I ordered the book and while looking through their site realised I liked what they did, I bought myself a small courier style bag, used it daily and loved it, functional and good looking, a bag I would use for some years to come. Other than a great bag to use I thought that was the end of my experience, but a few months later I recommended their bags to a friends and through one of those contacts met with Jorrit, we got on well and he liked the idea of working together on some special pieces, still with a Millican spirit but with perhaps a more urban feel, something a little more Universal Works. The hard work that followed was down to the Jorritt and Nicky and a big thanks goes to them for making this happen. We are really happy with the first results and hope others will be too, I am still using the first bag I bought, not daily as I have a new Jan day pack to use on my bike ride to work, but it still gets used a lot and I think it will be for many years."
