The HHV X Universal Works collection is now online.

We have come together with Berlin based vinyl record, streetwear and sneaker destination and also UW stockist HHV, to launch a collaboration which has a tangible international resonance.

An intentional blend of streetwear and workwear, the four piece capsule consists of British workwear staples in a combination of quintessentially German Moleskin and iconically British Harris Tweed. UW co-founder David Keyte goes on to say,

“We wanted to really mix up some very British things and very German things and express our common interests. HHV chose a classic Harris Tweed
from Scotland and we added a real hard-wearing workwear fabric from a classic German mill ....We developed this in two of our favourite relaxed shapes, the Cabin Jacket and Pleated Track Pant, creating a kind of “repaired” long time loved feel with self-patches. We wanted to make a kind of international feeling garment.”

DJ Amir wears, HHV x Universal Works Cabin Jacket + Track Pant in German Moleskin Navy (Left) and Grey Harris Tweed (Right).

It’s the celebration of an international outlook that sheds light on the working title for the project; “Traditional Fabric, International Garments. Traditional Beat, International Artist”. There’s an intentional emphasis on the international part, this is about two independent companies coming together to celebrate a shared belief that in fashion, like music, there should be no nations and borders, just people.
It’s no surprise, then, that world-renowned DJ, record producer and friend of HHV DJ Amir Abdullah, fronts the campaign.

Stumble upon Amir’s Instagram bio, which aptly reads “Boston born, Brooklyn inspired, Berlin based” a simple phrase that is, in this case in particular, packed with a lot of meaning. Almost as if by accident, Amir’s insta bio acts as a metaphorical summary of the project.

Speaking about how the project came to be, David adds “I’ve been visiting Berlin for a few years now with UW and I am, and always have been, on the lookout for exciting retail, so I was pleased to discover a great vinyl store, HHV, a few years back in the Friedrichshain part of town. So when they started to buy our collection for the clothing part of their offer I was both excited and honoured”.

Calum Andrews of HHV continues; “Universal Works has played a large role in the shaping of how we see HHV today. From premium items to well-selected designs, it was only right we came together. With the tag line, ‘Traditional Fabric, International Garment. Traditional Beat, International Artist’ we were able to bring the two worlds together.”
