After the success of our first collaboration with Japanese footwear makers Flower Mountain, we renew our memberships to the fictional Dandelion Mountaineering Association, a slogan adopted by the brand, inspired by the blooming dandelions of Mount Fuji.

Bringing together each piece through a common thread, in-house designed floral embroidery is what makes this project feel so special. A visual representation of the blending of our British and Japanese cultures, dandelions and buttercups decorate much-loved Universal Works silhouettes in Recycled Polytech and Broadcloth fabrics.

“We are always happy to work with experts in their field, hopefully produce some cool things, and have fun in the process.” — David Keyte, UW Co-Founder

We wanted it to feel like the florals were growing up each piece, giving movement and life along the hems of our Minari Shirt, Beach Short and Beach Hat, on the elbow patches of our Cruiser Shirt, and sewn across the entire front of our E130 Jacket. We also created a collaborative printed tee in Single Jersey, echoing those same florals and the Dandelion Mountaineering Association.

Together we have reworked two brand new Flower Mountain styles and one of their classics. We chose every material used—Leathers, Suedes, Cottons, colours, stitching—and adding our own branding details in a way that echoes their aesthetic along with ours. You will find the New Asuka Uni, the Fami Uni and the Yamano 3 Uni, all with Flower Mountain’s top-stitching, which we love, along with a new coloured strip on the back and our branded stamp. Everything is finished with a collaborative logo that nods to the true friendship between both brands, using the Flower Mountain font and incorporating the UW logo.

With the blooming of the dandelions, this collection lets us look forward to a hazy summer ahead.

Flower Mountain x Universal Works is available now at Flower Mountain, Universal Works, as well as selected international retailers.
