All Our Friends.

Unsurprisingly, we do get by with a little help from our friends. Those in our extended UW family. People we have known for years, and others we are glad to have met fleetingly. Those with interesting stories about all kinds of things, and those who just simply like to dress up and look good. UW is what it is today because of the great friendships we have made over the years.

A journal in the true sense of the word, this page will be the home to snippets and photographs of people we meet, updated after ad hoc encounters and overdue catch-ups with friends new and old. So keep checking back here for more.

Dave

Meet Dave Doherty. A big fan of Universal Works, we met him at the Thompson Brothers, a greengrocer in Nottingham run by twin brothers, where Dave is a long-standing customer, occasional freelance potato flogger and the man behind the shop’s social media.

The Thompson Brothers has become something of a neighbourhood institution—part plant paradise, part produce haven, and possibly the only place you will find someone selling you both a cactus and a cauliflower with the same grin.

Callum

Callum Newton, found at Yeti 925, is a jewellery designer, making hand-carved silver creations at his studio in Nottingham’s Lace Market. A regular at our Derby Road store, we invited Callum for a look at our latest collection—all jewellery is model’s own, of course.

Drew

Drew Wolf is a New York native who has lived in London for the last 15 years—and in the most recent of those, he has become a bit of a regular at UW Coal Drops Yard. Drew is a creative director, marketer, self-taught filmmaker, creative, and founder of Kold Sauce. When he isn’t turning up the heat in the kitchen, he is cooking up a storm wardrobe-wise, too.

Meet Julian. He goes to the same swimming baths as our Co-Founder David Keyte, and it turns out he is a big fan of UW. Julian’s a pretty snappy dresser out of the pool, so we invited him over to our Nottingham store to try a few things on…
