We’ve been sat on this one for a while now and so are really excited to be able to finally share the news about our new standalone retail space in Berlin, Germany. This new venture has been made possible thanks to a very special partnership with Lyon and Ralf, the guys behind long term U.W stockists Trüffelschwein .
The new store is located just a few steps away from Trüffelschwein at Rosa Luxembourg Strasse 28, in the Mitte district of Berlin, an area famous for its art galleries and ‘The Kino Babylon’ (the oldest cinema in the city). Universal Works founders David Keyte and Stephanie Porritt have known Lyon and Ralf for over 8 years.

“The guys at Trüffelschwein came to London to buy from us at our London showroom back in the early days and we have been working together ever since. I guess we became firm friends when we started to visit for the trade fairs, we instantly fell in love with Berlin, it’s just a very cool city, it's always had a bohemian feel since the 1920s maybe before. Since the wall came down I think Berlin has been a symbol of a modern Germany but with a sense of fun, excitement, design and music making it one of Europe’s most interesting cities.”

The store will house our seasonal collections and the interior, designed by Ralf Linnenbrink (Trüffelschwein), is in keeping with the local architectural flavour, but still retains the industrial and utilitarian character of the Universal Works brand.

As a Universal Works partnership store, the day-to-day running of the space will be managed by the Trüffelschwein team. Please note that as Truffleschwein is separate to our retail estate this means the Berlin store can't take returns or do exchanges on products bought from other Universal Works stores or online.

The new store is now open to the public with the official opening penned for the 25th September 2021. The team, including UW founders David Keyte and Stephanie Porritt will be at the new store, welcoming customers and introducing the collections on the opening weekend.
